I spent Valentine’s Day curled up on the couch using a mountain of tissues. I rarely get sick, but last weekend was my turn for sniffles, coughs, and general icky feelings. The bright side was that I had a new Valencia top to wear! It was comfortable and nice to wear something new even when I felt crummy.
My Valencia Top is a basic solid plum color. I started teaching online ESL classes and need plain shirts without any writing on them for my classes. I made this shirt with my ESL classes in mind. I’ll be able to wake up, brush my hair, and be ready to teach in 10 minutes if I wear this very comfortable Valencia top to bed.
The Valencia Top has a couple cute variations if you’re looking for something with a bit more interest. A couple years ago I made the color blocked version for Valentine’s day and it’s one of my favorite shirts. That color blocked version is made from rayon spandex and it seems to swing and hang in a very flattering way. This year’s Valentine Valencia is made from Huckleberry Cotton Modal fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. It is lightweight without the weight that rayon spandex has. It clings at bit more than the rayon spandex so I don’t think it is quite as flattering. But honestly, my ESL students rarely see anything except my shoulders on up.
Head over to the New Horizons Designs so see some versions with the open back variation. The open back isn’t my personal style which is why I don’t have my own version to share with you.
