Last Minute Patchwork Baby Quilt
A couple weeks ago a friend had a baby shower organized with less than a week before the event. I wanted to make a quilt for her but just did not have the time to make an elaborate design. So, I made a classic patchwork in bright blues, teals, and greens.
I’m drawn to blues, so this quilt makes me very happy. Straight line quilting along both sides of each seam keeps it simple, unisex (even though she
knew she was having a boy), and fast. I’ve done similar quilting on other patchwork quilts (an adorable fox one is in my Etsy Shop) and am drawn to the simple, clean lines it makes. The fabrics and the pattern they make get all the attention. In this case, I went for a random pattern-cause I like it. My eyes wander all over looking for the pattern in the patchwork and for some reason are satisfied when they don’t find it… Okay, and because I only had a little of the lime green left and this quilt NEEDED the lime green.
The binding is a metallic gray crosshatch. I really love the print. Neutral, but not boring. And it give just the tinies bit of relief to the bright colors.
Because I was short on time, I attached the binding completely with the machine. It turned out well and there is no chance that binding is coming off!
