Handmade Pokemon Costumes
Halloween Costumes are not my favorite things to make. But I made my kids some Pokemon Costumes and they are happy and excited to be able to wear them after Halloween too! I tried to take some pictures yesterday before trick or treating and it was a bit crazy. So not super great pictures…
Here we have Fennekin, complete with a giant tail.
And here is Teddiursa, with a cute little tail and floppy ears.
I used the Summit Peak Hoodie from New Horizons Designs to make the shirts for both Pokemon costumes. I color blocked the hood to mimic the Pokemon faces. They were fantastic for layering over regular shirts for extra warmth. I used some 92/8 Cotton Lycra from Nick of Time Textiles. The fabric is a very stable knit with really strong recovery. It’s thick and easy to sew with. And I had it in my stash.
The pants for both Pokemon costumes are the Moto Maxx pants from Love Notions Patterns. I like using this pattern for costumes and pajama bottoms because the pants are slim, but still loose. Leggings just wouldn’t work for this, especially for my son! And although I like using this pattern, I still don’t love the fit on Nut#2. The pants look just fine on Nut#3 and Nut-Nut…not sure what about my daughter makes these pants problematic.
And that’s a Halloween wrap! My oldest son had Dad make his knight costume and I didn’t get a picture. But here’s another picture of the three costumes I make this year! Click here to see more about the Tooth Fairy in the picture!
