We have warm to hot weather nearly all year long and the kids shorts are looking worn.  Last year I made some Reef Walker shorts for Nut #2 and #3.  They have been huge successes so  I pulled out the pattern and made a new pair for my son.

I made a straight size 7.  However, he’s a skinny kid so I made sure to use his waist measurement instead of the elastic measurements in the pattern.  My fabric is some thick 92/8 cotton lycra from Nick of Time Textiles.  It is plenty thick for shorts—pretty much like the French Terry I used last time.

Like the Reef Walker shorts I made for him last year, I hacked the kangaroo pocket into two separate pockets.  I like the look better for him.  He’s liking the shorts and it’s nice that the gray goes with just about everything he wears!
