Warhol Dress

I LOVE when the random impulse remnant buys I make actually come together with what I already have to make something really cute. I’ve had this jersey knit for at least a year and finally got around to making it into a Warhol Dress from MADE to go with some pants I bought probably before Pigg#2 was born.  I never needed them and never used them.  The color match is great! The neckline is made from the shirt I cut up to make my Maternity Tunic.  I really like this kind of neckline.  I have enough fabric to squeeze out another one for Pigg#2 since this one is a baby gift and too small for Pigg#2.  Except I think I’ll make it for next summer because Pigg#2 already has plenty of clothing.  Mr. Jiggs sometimes feels jealous for Pigg#1.  Honestly though, I got most of them as hand-me-downs and have hardly made anything for her this summer. But isn’t this outfit so cute?  Pair it with a long-sleeve onesie and the pants during early spring when it is cold and ditch the pants when it warms up.  And it can go from being a dress to a shirt!  I love sewing for little...

Half-tees knock-off

Around December, a friend of mine told me about half-tees.  If you haven’t ever heard of them before you can check out their site to see more.  I loved the idea of having only half a shirt to layer and keep me modest, especially since I was just starting to wear pregnancy clothes and the half tee could be worn regardless of the size of my belly.  I bought a couple and then decided to make my own out of old t-shirts.  This was a maternity shirt that was not flattering on me.  I used the original sleeve hems but made my own neck line since the original shirt didn’t have one I could take and use.  I hope this will work well for nursing too!  We’ll see in a few weeks.  I still need to make a brown one, white one…well you get the...

Maternity Tunic

I really like this type of neckline.  I used it for Pigg#2’s Easter Dress and just seem to be drawn back to it over and over.   I wanted to make one for myself.  It needed to match a shirt underneath since I’m a sleeve type of girl and I wanted it to match a skirt I have (not pictured).  I came up with this.   Hopefully I can wear it after the baby with a belt and it will still look good.  I pulled out an XL white long sleeve t-shirt from my stash. I used another maternity shirt to help me with the width and length of the shirt. And cut out a front and back.  With the front being a bit wider.  The neck opens on one side with the button.  Another pic because I like the button.  And gathered in the back as well. I’m pleased and hope it gets some good...

Baby Shower Gift: Shrug

Not only am I expecting a baby, but many of my friends in my church are as well.  So much of my crafting time lately has been trying to prepare for baby showers.  Fun, but I need to start making a bunch in advance instead of waiting for the day of. My friend was having a baby girl and I had a green skirt I wanted to use in the gift, but now top to go with it.  So I found this shirt that Pigg#2 doesn’t need, but is the same kind of green and decided to use this tutorial to make a shrug to go with the skirt.   My only change was to also cut up some shorts that were in the same color of green to make a straight edge instead of a ruffled edge.  Then I ruffled some of the extra fabric from the shirt and sewed a squigly design on a onesie.  And added a ruffle to the bum part.  And ended up with an outfit that looks like this.  Not your traditional pink girl outfit.  But fun.  And the green color matched something else I made to go with the outfit.  I love it when the parts of my gift actually coordinate.  Perhaps it makes up for my pathetic presentation skills.  I told you…I need to prepare ahead of time so I actually have...

Blue Sweater Dress and Leggings

Just another sweater I cut down for Pigg#2.  I loved how nicely the neckline turned out.  Not too tight, not too loose.  The style is exactly the same as the original sweater.  And the leggings are made out of an old black shirt with a REALLY low neckline.  They are thin and balance out the warmth of the dress. Maybe next winter it will actually fit as a sweater for her.  We’ll...
