Felt Flower Clips

Here are a few quick cute clips I made for my friend’s baby girl.  I liked them so much that I had to make some for Pigg#2 as well. Easy but oh so adorable! And more with a slightly different shape and pearl centers.  My personal favorite of the whole bunch.  I got the pearl centers from some necklaces in Target’s dollar spot.  Does anyone else ever get totally sucked into that place?  I mean, once I bought the necklace to cut up and use the beads from, then I caved and bought another to save for future dress-ups.  Pigg#2 is a bit young for that, but someday she’ll love little necklaces to put on! I guess right now I’m still working on convincing her to leave her hair in.  Each Sunday I have to do her hair two or three times…because she pulls out her bows and elastics on the way to church! Good thing I love how she looks in...

Black Apple Dolls

I saw the pattern for these on Martha Stewart’s website before Christmas and fell in love the the Japanese hair.  So I made some for Pigg#2.  They’re not her favorite dolls, but they do in a pinch.  They are pretty simple to make, but the arms and leggs were much longer than I liked and the pattern did not have a seam allowance (but didn’t note it.) They were the longest part of the dolls. I still love the head of the dolls, but I’m not fond of the bodies.  It’s the hair.  I love the...

Ruffle Shirt

Pigg#2 has a new shirt!  The stars must have aligned for this project. I bought this fabric from wal-mart very cheaply.  5 yards for 5 dollars.  Not great quality fabric, but great to experiment with.   I already had buttons that just happen to match the fabric beautifully.  At least well.  And my friend let me borrow her serger and figure out how to thread and sew with it.  It only had forest green thread which also ends up being okay for this project.  I made up the pattern for this little shirt from scratch.  It only took two tries.  I’m glad I have plenty of this fabric.  I even got to try my hand at making my own bias tape since I have plenty of fabric.  Unfortunately, the fabric instantly melts if you put the iron directly on it.  So I had to put a pillowcase over the fabric before I ironed it.  It made making the folds of the bias tape much harder to do. But I’m super happy with my little ruffled...

Blue Sweater Dress and Leggings

Just another sweater I cut down for Pigg#2.  I loved how nicely the neckline turned out.  Not too tight, not too loose.  The style is exactly the same as the original sweater.  And the leggings are made out of an old black shirt with a REALLY low neckline.  They are thin and balance out the warmth of the dress. Maybe next winter it will actually fit as a sweater for her.  We’ll...
