Pattern Review: Caroline Party Dress

The Caroline Party Dress from Mouse House Creations was one of the first PDF patterns I bought.  A friend of mine gave it great reviews and I love it’s clean classic lines.  I used it a couple years ago for a halloween costume (not blogged about because it was while I was still in a baby haze from having Nut-Nut).  Then my MIL sent me some lavender stripe fabric (looks and feels like poplin) and I knew needed to be a Caroline Party Dress for Nut-Nut’s Easter Dress.  Now.  Because I only had a limited amount of fabric and Nut-Nut...

Pattern Review: Sahara Dress and Top

I made my daughters Easter dresses this year and knew the Sahara Dress and Top would be perfect for making my oldest daughter a comfortable, but girly dress.  I love the clean, simple lines.  She loves the knit fabric and twirly circle skirt!  Here’s my review of the pattern. Fit and Construction This is a close fitting dress.  But because it is knit, it is comfortable even though it is close fitting.  Nut#2 is particular about how things feel and her only complaints  were about the clear elastic around the waist.  Mine is larger than the pattern calls for and bothered her.  I...

Quick Fix for Holes in Footie Pajamas

Spring is here, but just barely.  Our cold days are more than our warm days, but I think we are past snow.  (Please?) Anyone else have footie pajamas with holes in the toes?  While I still want my kids to wear warm pajamas to bed, I’m not buying or making new ones since warm weather is right around the corner.  Time to get creative! Nut-Nut really likes these pajamas.  They are hand-me-downs from Nut#2, who got them handed down from cousins, so they have had a good long life.  But she likes them.  I could have just cut off...

Live Action Beauty and the Beast Inspired Dress

After making the knit Belle dress, I decided to push the pattern even farther and make a Live Action Beauty and the Beast Inspired Belle Dress out of satin and tulle.  The dress turned out beautifully and Nut-Nut has worn it nearly every day since! Features I love how the Live Action Beauty and the Beast dress is simple, yet elegant.  My version tries to capture some essential style lines. Layers of ribbon detailing on the bodice mimic the ruffles on Belle’s dress and the bodice itself has dolman cap sleeves.  The bodice meets at a point in both the...

Pattern Review: Town Square Dress

I consider myself a pretty thrifty person, so I love a good up-cycle/repurposing project. (Check out my post on turning an old college hoodie into a new, raglan hoodie. Today I’m reviewing a New Horizon Design pattern that is great for repurposing and on trend with the peplums that are popping up everywhere! The Town Square Dress/Top was released when New Horizon Designs was called Terra’s Treasures, so it’s been around for a while.  However, I only discovered it about a month ago when creating my Belle Dress Hack so I thought I’d write up a review. The Town Square...
