Layered Ruffle Maggie Top

School is already starting!  Summer flew by in a whirl of swim practice, piano lessons, and pool days and my sewing time has been really limited.  But the kids grow!  And the clothes get holes!  Actually, my second daughter grows so slowly that I usually get sick of her clothes way before they are outgrown or worn out.  But this year, she has finally grown enough to actually need new clothes and I’ve been slowly sewing some throughout summer.  This layered ruffle Maggie Tee is going to be her ‘First Day of School’ Outfit and is my stop of...

Pattern Test: Cascade Tee

Hey!  I finally tested another pattern!  I’ve taken a little break from pattern testing in the past couple months as my family transitioned to Florida over the winter and and moved into a new house last month.  It’s felt chaotic and I don’t really feel like my feet are back under me yet-but I have hope that I will get there.  But I just had to test the Cascade Tee despite any craziness because the flounce is so cute without being overly frilly.  It’s my jam. Mother’s Day and Easter Dress 2018

One of the fun things about having girls is making dresses! This year I’m calling these a combined Easter dress and Mother’s Day dress because I had juuussst enough of this delicious Cherry Blossom Haiku fabric from Monaluna leftover from the girls dresses to squeeze out a peplum top for me!  I’m loving matching my girls for a while.  It’s cheesy, but I know they aren’t going to be into this whole matchy-matchy thing in a few short years!  I’ve got to soak it in while its still cool and desirable. I finished these dresses well before Easter and...

Pattern Head to Head: Knit Skater Dress

Previously I have posted reviews of the Mouse House Creations Janie Dress and The Bella Sunshine Designs Sahara dress. They are both knit skater dresses with fitted bodices and circle skirts.  I had a hard time deciding between the two since they are so similar and decided to put them head to head with each other in a blog post so others can see how they compare. Now I know there are a bunch of other knit skater dresses out in the pdf pattern world.  But I’m only going to compare these two.  ‘Cause I don’t feel the need...

Reef Walker Pocket Hack

Comfy shorts have been on my to-sew list for months.  Spring and summer sneak up on me so fast even as I can’t wait for the warm weather to arrive.  Plus, we live in a really warm place and pretty much wear shorts all the time these days.  After weeks of requests, I finally got these new shorts made and even make a pocket hack for some extra variety.  They were an immediate win with the kids, which makes me happy! I decided to make Reef Walker shorts since we live 20 minutes from the beach (yes I am...
