Quick Fix for Holes in Footie Pajamas

Spring is here, but just barely.  Our cold days are more than our warm days, but I think we are past snow.  (Please?) Anyone else have footie pajamas with holes in the toes?  While I still want my kids to wear warm pajamas to bed, I’m not buying or making new ones since warm weather is right around the corner.  Time to get creative! Nut-Nut really likes these pajamas.  They are hand-me-downs from Nut#2, who got them handed down from cousins, so they have had a good long life.  But she likes them.  I could have just cut off...

Live Action Beauty and the Beast Inspired Dress

After making the knit Belle dress, I decided to push the pattern even farther and make a Live Action Beauty and the Beast Inspired Belle Dress out of satin and tulle.  The dress turned out beautifully and Nut-Nut has worn it nearly every day since! Features I love how the Live Action Beauty and the Beast dress is simple, yet elegant.  My version tries to capture some essential style lines. Layers of ribbon detailing on the bodice mimic the ruffles on Belle’s dress and the bodice itself has dolman cap sleeves.  The bodice meets at a point in both the...

Pattern Review: Town Square Dress

I consider myself a pretty thrifty person, so I love a good up-cycle/repurposing project. (Check out my post on turning an old college hoodie into a new, raglan hoodie. Today I’m reviewing a New Horizon Design pattern that is great for repurposing and on trend with the peplums that are popping up everywhere! The Town Square Dress/Top was released when New Horizon Designs was called Terra’s Treasures, so it’s been around for a while.  However, I only discovered it about a month ago when creating my Belle Dress Hack so I thought I’d write up a review. The Town Square...

DIY Knit Live Action Belle Dress

Beauty and the Beast was my favorite Disney Princess movie as a little girl, yet my own daughters have never been drawn to Belle until they saw the trailers for the new live action Beauty and the Beast.  I knew I wanted to make a Belle dress hack for my girls to play in.  My oldest daughter has outgrown most of our dress-ups, but still loves to be fancy and pretend.  And Nut-Nut is starting to wear dress-ups all day instead of just a couple minutes at a time.  It really is a fun stage!  Fortunately, this stage also calls for...

Pattern Review: Free Pajama Party Pants

My oldest son needed new warm pajamas so I decided to make some and gift them for Christmas.  As I mentioned in my review of 11th Hour Gear, my go-to paper pattern wasn’t the right size for him.  4 sizes too small.  I really liked that pattern because it had separate front and back pieces instead of one that wrapped around from back to front.  I loved the slimmer fit.  I’ve heard wonderful things about Peek-a-boo Patterns so I decided to download the free Pajama Party Pants and sew them up for my son.     Fit Turns out,...
