Monogram Onesie

Along with the Orange Checked baby Romper I gave as a Baby gift, I whipped up a monogrammed onesie.  This friend decided on a name for her little boy months in advance, like as soon as they knew their baby was a boy, so I could actually make one of these cute onesies.  Most of my friends haven’t decided on a name until the baby arrives. I like it and will probably make one for Pigg#3 too.  When he runs out of clothes to wear.  He’s either longer than Pigg#1 was as a baby or I have a different sense of what fits because Pigg#3 seems to be growing out of clothes quicker than Pigg#1...

Baby Romper–Dress Shirt Style

I made this little outfit before Pigg#3 was born and just haven’t blogged about it yet.  It’s basically the same type of outfit that I made for Pigg#3’s blessing, but in a bigger size.  And I had a store made garment to trace around and use as a size guideline.  I gave it away as a gift, but I’m pretty sure it will fit.  The snaps worked better on this one. I’m a big fan of rompers for my baby boy because they are comfy and easy, but a bit more than just a onesie.  And I think these are a great way to use up dress shirts that just aren’t working for the big man in your life...

Blessing Outfit

We blessed Pigg#3 a couple of weeks ago while family was in town.  I couldn’t find anything I liked to dress him in the stores that were in my price range so I decided to make an outfit out of one of Mr. Jiggs’ dress shirts.  Some how the first one (from a white shirt) ended up too small.  I’m not sure if I cut it out wrong or if Pigg#3 grew that fast.  So I tried again with this blue plaid so I didn’t use up all my white shirts if it didn’t work again.  I ran out of time to make another one out of a white shirt, so he was blessed in blue plaid.  At least he wasn’t naked! Sorry about the blurry pic.  The camera focused on the wall behind us.  Bummer.  Basically, I cut out the front and back the same size and had the front use the existing buttons from the shirt.  Then I added sleeves using the existing hems, a collar from the existing collar, and some snaps on the bottom.  But my snap tool was giving me trouble again.  Anyone have tips for making the snaps stay in the...

Robot Car Seat Blanket Tent

A couple months ago I started making a quilt for Pigg#3 and actually picked out fabric I liked at Joann’s and bought it.  None of my usually remnant buys and ‘make-it-work’ projects this time.  Some of the fabric just screamed robots, so I made some taggie-softie-robots.  Then I expanded and made this. The robot’s hands are the ties that hold the car seat handles and it still has all the floppy arms for Pigg#3 to grab onto if I ever stick it on the floor for him to lie on.  The opposite side has some cute coordinating fabric which I also love.  Peek-a-boo Mr. Robot.  Keep that sleeping baby...

Baby Shower Gift: Bib and Burp Cloth

Last week was a baby shower for a friend having a boy.  I made her a flannel blanket. With a car appliqued on the blanket. With the red stitching adding some interest in the plain navy blue backing.  When I bought the bright striped flannel, I knew I had this navy blue flannel from my mom’s stash.  I thought I had a couple yards of it.  Turns out, I had 2 strips of about 12 inches by like 80 inches.  Long.  So I had the piece the backing for the blanket. Then I made a matching bib and burp cloth and put a car silhouette on all three.  Top stitched with red thread. Pigg#1 got very excited when he saw it and tried to convince me we should keep it for Baby Brother.  I love seeing him so excited on his brother’s behalf.  I love the bright colors.  That baby boy will hopefully love this blanket as much as Pigg#1 loves his.  Which is quite a...
