Pattern Test: Shoulder Snap T-Shirt and Seated Panel Pants Harem Style

After I finished testing the Overlap Bodysuit for Kylie Crettenden of Fresh Stitch Patterns, she invited me to test two more patterns she had in the works.  This is probably vain of me, but I was flattered to actually be ASKED to test a pattern instead of applying and hoping to be selected…so I said yes.   Plus, Kylie is really nice to test for.  Her patterns come to testing already fitting very well and only needing slight changes for fit.  And the clothing turns out looking quite professional.  That being said, I don’t LOVE the style of Harem Pants.  Not my thing-at least not for my girl (I think Kylie is working on a version for older kids who don’t wear diapers anymore.  I can see these being really comfy pajamas for Pigg#3).  However, these have grown on me and look like they are really comfortable.  Pigg#4 got sick over Thanksgiving while at my sister’s house and I put her in these so she’d be comfy. One of the great things about these pants in there are only 3 pattern pieces!  They come together so stinking fast!  And Kylie has a link in her instructions for putting the elastic for the waistband directly on the pants with a serger instead of creating a casing, which makes these even faster to whip out.  The cuffs are folded up in...

Baby Quilt for Sister in Law

Mr. Jigg’s sister just had had her first baby.  We were all really excited to welcome that baby boy into the family!  I figured she didn’t have a million quilts and blankets from other children so I could make one for her.  I love having a reason to make new quilts!  And I really love how this one turned out.  Hope I get to meet the little man and drink in his little “babyness”. This quilt is based off the quilt and tutorial over on  Must Love Quilts.  Such beautiful designs!  Come to think of it, I haven’t shared the quilt I made for Pigg#1’s bed.  It was based off one of her designs too.  Guess I’ll have to photograph and share that soon. I’d love to make a quilt for you too!  I’m up for all sorts of designs.  Send me and email or pop over to my etsy page and send me a message so we can talk about it....

KCWC-Faux Vest

Wow.  I actually got another thing made this week! My sister-in-law is about to have a baby boy and said she could use some more clothes since her first boy put some nice stains on his clothes.  Hopefully she’s too busy to look at this blog before it gets to her!  Crossing my fingers that I’m not ruining the surprise! Now I’ve made tie onesies before.  I made one for Pigg#3 when he was born and loved it for dressing up my baby to go to church without making a bunch of fuss. But my SIL sew too and has already done that.  So when I saw this adorable idea I had to do it too!  And then I had to made another in a bigger size for Pigg#3.  It fit Pigg#3 well so hopefully this smaller one will fit the new baby too.    And then I had to squeeze out matching pants for both outfits because it’s so adorable.  The fabric is from one of Mr. Jiggs’ old dress shirts that were too short in the sleeve. I used Dana’s flat front pant tutorial.    And then I cut up some of Mr. Jigg’s old khaki pants that were fraying on the hem to make some matching khaki pants in a slightly bigger size.  And then I started making bow ties out of the scraps!  I went...

Watch Me Grow Chart

I never had one of these things growing up even though I lived in the same house from the time I turned one until I got married.  My parents still live there.  Despite the stability of our home location, we did not keep track of how much we grew each year. But Mr. Jigg’s family did.  And the marks are still there.  Mr. Jiggs once tried to start the tradition on our living room wall.  I wasn’t crazy about the it especially since half an hour later, I had this on the wall. Pigg#1 called them ‘w’s.   But I still kind of liked the idea…if I could take the marks with me as we move to new houses.  (Mr. Jiggs is still in school.)  I just could not figure out what I wanted to do until I saw this idea…and it clicked. So I made my version and finally got it hung.  Pigg #1 likes to stand next to it and look in the mirror to see if he has grown at all. I followed that tutorial, except I didn’t quilt it.  There is only one layer of fabric…no batting and no backing.  And I added marks for measuring so I can say how many inches tall they are. I used the same fabric as all of Pigg#3’s baby blanket, quilt, sling, robots…all those other things.  So I guess...

Baby Superhero Costume

Pigg #1 vetoed my Napoleon Dynamite idea for Halloween this year because he wanted to ‘be sombody’.  Instead he just wanted to use the superhero things I made for him last spring to be CTR boy.  Cool.  Less work for me.  Happy boy.  But then he decided Pigg#3 should not be a boy fairy, he should be a superhero too.  So here he is… Mini CTR Boy!  Cape  Mask  Power wristlets!  On his way to save his Mommy!  And a logo on his shirt.  The cape snaps on and off.  Mostly because I thought that would be fun.  I used snap tape so I could take the snaps off the onesie if I decided I wanted him to wear it for real.  It was SOOO fun to make.  Mini anything is so much fun.  And this seriously took me less than two hours to put together. Happy...
