Catalina Dress and Giveaway!
I love comfortable, easy to wear clothes, especially last year’s Easter Dress. I’ve worn it so much in the past year and it’s starting to get some little holes. Perhaps I haven’t been laundering it right-that’s what I get for buying clearance fabric and not paying attention to what exactly it is. But when I saw that the Blank Slate Patterns Catalina Dress got an update, I decided to try it out and make a new maxi dress! And…I’ve got a giveaway today so keep reading to the end of the post!
I made some adjustments and changes to the Catalina Dress as I sewed it up. I made a small bust adjustment, did a knit binding instead of a woven binding on the inside of the dress, and then tried the bodice on. The armholes felt kind of low to me. I don’t like to be able to see through my sleeve into my dress-even on a cap sleeve. My solution–take in the sides so the armscye is higher. Then, I finished the sleeves with a band instead of bias tape to give myself just a little more coverage.
In the end, I think I took up the armscye too much since the dress now pulls above my bust. But you can’t see inside my dress-so I at least met my goal! In the near future I’ll probably cut off the bodice and put on a new one so I make a higher armscye without tightening above the bust.
